College costs are out of control... period.  The high cost of going to a four year university has risen far faster than inflation and there is no end in sight.  In most cases, a college education today is 17 times greater than in the early 1970's.

Despite the costs, experts agree with families that college graduates, on average, do make considerably more money that those with just a high school diploma.

For me, not attending college was not an option.  Everyone in my family grew up knowing that it was essential to get a higher education and I'm glad I did have that extra push.  I ended up graduating with a 3.8 average.  Attending  college was something grandmother Davison believed in and that was passed down to my Dad's family and all of us kids. For many of my friends, the military provided that same essential education with life experiences, much like earning that four year degree.  One thing is sure, both are the result of hard work and both very rewarding.

Once again Binghamton University ranks high on the list of best college choices.  In fact, Rare.us published a list of the best public colleges in every state and in New York, that was Binghamton University.  BU received a smart rating of 97.  Taking academic excellence in to consideration, along with graduation rates and undergraduate acceptance rate, Binghamton University's tuition rate comes in at $8620 for in-state students and $20,260 for out of state students.

So if you're shopping for a college, look in your own backyard as it may make more sense to stay home when seeking the best value for your higher education.
