Students from the Binghamton University Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) will host their third annual Community Clothing Giveaway this Saturday.

A large amount of seasonable and fashionable clothing has been donated for this event and is free to all members of the community. The Community Clothing Giveaway will take place from 12pm-3pm this Saturday, October 10th, at the Carlisle Hills Community Center at 150 Moeller Street in Binghamton.

LPP Students have learned that poverty and deteriorating communities are a primary factor for not only violence in the community, but also unhealthy activities and poor academic performance.

The Binghamton University Liberty Partnerships Program is a collaboration between the University, schools and community agencies that provide services for 280 students each year in cooperation with the Binghamton, Windsor, Susquehanna Valley and Owego Apalachin central school districts.

LPP places full-time staff members in the participating school districts to work directly with at risk youth. In addition to full time staff, Binghamton University graduate and undergraduate students serve as tutors and mentors.

If you'd like to learn about LPP or about the community clothing giveaway, please call Amy Humphrey at 607-777-4187.
