The Volunteers of America announced this week that they'll be closing all 11 of their upstate New York thrift stores by this September.

Most of the VOA's stores are located in Western New York but they also have stores in Binghamton/Endwell and Elmira.

In a statement on their website, VOA says "Unfortunately, we have experienced an ongoing decline in sales and we can no longer afford to operate our stores."

While the Binghamton VOA store only recently opened, their other stores have been offering the community bargains for more than 60 years.

The stores will offer closing sales with deeply discounted items and loyalty points will be honored until the stores close. All stores have stopped accepting donations.

Volunteers of America Upstate New York wants people to know that they will continue to help people in need through their human service programs, which include housing and support services for homeless families and individuals and early childhood development programs for children.
