The New York Propane Gas Association has been offering scholarships to colleges across the state since 2010, helping students in fire science and HVAC programs become fully trained technicians and safety professionals with an understanding of propane that they need to support increased demand in the industry.

Two local students from Broome Community College have been named recipients of the Elbert Stillwaggon Memorial Scholarship for students training to become professional firefighters. The recipients are:

Nicholas Coddington- Nicholas is a volunteer fire fighter for Conklin Fire Department, part of the Swift Water Rescue Team for Conklin Fire Department, and on the Dean’s List at SUNY Broome. Nicholas was awarded a $3,000 scholarship.

Ryan Crispell- Ryan is a Firefighter with Apalachin Fire Department, an Eagle Scout and a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America, as well as a member of Alpha Beta Gamma International Business Honor Society at SUNY Broome. Ryan was awarded a $3,000 scholarship

Just as we’re sure their family and friends are proud of them, we too are proud of their service to our community and their dedication to continue to serve after they graduate college. Congrats guys, we’re proud of you!
