Summer is almost over and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies only have four home games left this season, Friday, August 31st to Monday, September 3rd. There is a lot going on including two firework shows.

Friday and Sunday night will be Firework Nights including the biggest firework show (BIG BANG BOOM) in the Southern Tier on September 2nd.

On Saturday, September 1st, it's the Binghamton Shrine Induction for the class of 2018 and it will include a friend of mine who has been with the Binghamton franchise for over 20 years, Jim Weed.

I had the chance to meet Jim when he was an intern with the team. In the early 2000's, the Hawk Morning Show was doing the morning show at NYSEG Stadium on Opening Day.

As the intern, he had to cook up hot dogs and anything else that people brought to put on the grill. We would have him on the air and I called him "Chef Jeff whose name is Jim."

I told him that Chef Jeff rhymes but the truth was that I probably just called him the wrong name and the best way for me to remember it was by calling him "Chef Jeff whose name is Jim." I still call him that today.

Another reason that we get along so well is our love for the Washington Redskins. He went on to become to the General Manger for the Binghamton Mets/Rumble Ponies from 2010-2017. Congratulations Jim and HTTR!

The 2016 Maine-Endwell Little League team who won the Little League World Series will be inducted along with Marion O'Connor

O'Connor will be inducted after her generous posthumous donation that allowed the Rumble Ponies to renovate the concession stands and add the extended safety netting along the dugout.

First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. but get there before the game on Saturday, September 1st for the ceremony and congrats to all the inductees.
