It's been around for over 125 years. My family become involved last year and we hope that you'll get involved this year. It's the Red Kettle campaign with the Binghamton Salvation Army.

The Binghamton Salvation Army is at 60% of its goal of $126,000 with just a few days left. Money raised during this time is used to support programs all year long. Donations help those in Broome County with food and support services to needy individuals and families.

You want to donate but can't find a Kettle? You can mail or bring donations to The Salvation Army, 131 Washington Street, Binghamton, NY 13901. Volunteers are needed to ring bells at its kettles now through December 24th. It was such an awarding experience for our family last year.

We were bell "ringers" last year at the Oakdale Mall.  We used ping pong paddles instead of bells. Tara brought her flute and played Christmas songs. I'll let you know where we'll be next.

You can ring bells as an individual or with your family. You can get your club, business or organization involved as well. Corporations can help by having mini red kettles at your place of employment. You can also be a Red Kettle Match sponsor where you can match funds raised in the kettle....dollar for dollar.

Contact Major Heimbrock at (607) 722-2987 or go here to find out how you can volunteer this holiday season with the Salvation Army. I promise that you won't be sorry.
