Binghamton Restaurant Week is happening now through Thursday April 10th so if there’s a local restaurant you’ve wanted to check out, but haven’t yet, this is the time to do it!

I'm a huge fan of Thai food, so when my friend asked if I wanted to grab a bite with her on Friday night, I knew the perfect place to go- Thai Time on Front Street in Binghamton. Because it was a Friday night, we had to wait to get a table, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes.

Deciding what to order was a bit of a challenge because there were so many things on the Binghamton Restaurant Week menu from which to chose.

We started with an appetizer of chicken satay. Chicken satay is a grilled and marinated strip of chicken served in peanut sauce.

Every time I get Thai, I go with curry, so this time decided to try something different and went with Pad Woon sen. Woon sen are thin glass noodles made of rice or bean; in pad Woon sen they’re typically stir-fried with meat, vegetables, sauces and egg. Light and savory, this is a great alternative to the heavier Pad Thai.

My friend Alana went with red curry with chicken. Traditionally, all Thai curries were made with the same ingredients except for one thing: the chilies. Red curry is made up to 20 red chilies, so it's nice and fiery.

We finished off our meal with dessert. I went with the cheesecake egg roll and Alana decided on the chocolate lava cake. Both were served with vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce. My cheesecake egg roll was divine. The best way I can think to describe it is as warm cheesecake filling in a crispy egg roll shell. I've never had anything like it. The gooey warmth of the melted cheeses inside the fried egg roll was the perfect combination of sweet and savory and a dessert I highly recommend trying.

Would I go back to Thai Time even after Restaurant Week has ended? You bet! The service was wonderful and the food even better.

Don’t forget that Binghamton Restaurant Week is going on through this Thursday April 10th and this is an amazing chance to check out some local restaurants and help out a good cause too as a portion of the proceeds benefit both VINES and Boys & Girls Clubs.
