Adopting a new cat or dog is a popular thing to do for the holidays.

While people have the best of intentions, it's important to note that there are many unwanted animals in the Greater Binghamton area that need homes.  Before you adopt-for-a-gift,  make sure the cat or pup is wanted in its new household.

A friend of mine who is associated with a great local shelter, 'Happy Tails No-Kill Shelter' out of Owego, New York and Towanda, Pennsylvania, sent me an e-mail today of an adorable little dog that needs a good home. The story really touched me so I thought I would share the story with you in hopes of finding a happy home for Toto.

"I have a client who is suffering from Cancer and can no longer take care of her beloved dog, Toto. I know Toto well and he is a wonderful dog. He is currently staying with me and I am looking for a new "forever home" for him.

Cairn Terrier/ Bischon Mix
Light Blonde coat
5 years old this month
Current on all his shots
Excellent Health
Approximately 20 lbs
Toto is a super sweet dog. He loves dogs, cats and people too. He loves walks, car rides and even grooming!! He is a little shy but once he feels
comfortable, he is a very "happy go lucky" kind of dog.
His owner was an older female, and he does very well with older people. He would make an excellent companion for a retired person(s).
I am hoping to give Toto and his Mom a wonderful Christmas by finding a new home for him.

Good luck Toto.  There's no place like a good home for the holidays.
