Binghamton Police Warn of Phone Scam Involving NYSEG

According to the Binghamton Police Department, they've seen an increase in a phone scam involving NYSEG.

According to NYSEG, some customers have been called and told they should purchase a “Green Dot MoneyPak Card” to avoid having their services shut off.  NYSEG says they won't call a customer for payment if an account is in good standing and they'll never ask a customer to purchase a debit card to make a payment. They advise you should keep your guard up when receiving calls from someone claiming to represent their company.
