Huge medical bills are facing the Binghamton Police Department for a member of its ranks suddenly stricken by a life-threatening illness.

Police Dog Rudi is at Cornell University Veterinary Hospital after he suddenly got a nose bleed December 1 that wouldn’t stop and a rare genetic disorder was discovered.

K-9 Rudy is credited with assisting in dozens of arrests after joining the force two years ago when he was just a year old.

The post on the Binghamton Police facebook page says :

“One of our heroes needs our help! One of Binghamton’s finest, K9 Rudi Gold Coast K9 has fallen ill and has been staying with the professional and proactive staff Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell Veterinary Hospital since Saturday, December 1st.”

"During this difficult time, we are reaching out for your help as Rudi’s medical costs continue to climb. The link below is a secure way to help!"
