The Eastern League announced today that Binghamton Mets starter Greg Peavey has been named the league Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 5 to May 11.  The righty earned league honors for his nine-inning complete-game shutout against New Hampshire Fisher Cats on May 7th.

Coming off his first win of the season, Peavey kept the Fisher Cats in check for his first-career complete-game shutout.  He allowed just two singles, struck out six, issued no walks and never allowed any runner past first base.  He retired the final 13 batters he faced and needed exactly 100 pitches to complete the twelfth nine-inning two-hitter in Binghamton Mets franchise history.

Tonight the Binghamton Mets enjoy a day off, but tomorrow they start a three-game series against the Altoona Curve at 6:30pm.  They are in town Tuesday -- Thursday including this Thursday's Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by 98.1 the HAWK!  You can also hear the game on our sister station, Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
