A 37-year-old man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash in downtown Binghamton.

Authorities say Shaun Pauling-Payne of Binghamton was arrested after a motorcycle collided with a car he was driving.

City police say the operator of the motorcycle - 37-year-old William Nash Jr. - died at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.

The collision occurred about 4:40 p.m. Sunday on Susquehanna Street between Carroll and Tudor streets.

Investigators say the car driven by Pauling-Payne was eastbound on Susquehanna Street when he turned into the path of the motorcycle.

Nash was traveling westbound when the motorcycle collided with the car.

In addition to vehicular manslaughter, Pauling-Payne was charged with driving while intoxicated. He also faces several vehicle and traffic violations.

Detectives say Pauling-Payne's blood alcohol content was measured at 0.22 percent.

Pauling-Payne was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.
