The streets of downtown Binghamton will get a holiday makeover this weekend as the Binghamton Holiday Parade is Saturday November 21st in the heart of downtown Binghamton, beginning at 1:30pm

The parade brings together marching bands, firefighters, police officers, area schools and local groups all to welcome in the official start of the Christmas shopping season.  I can remember my very first Binghamton parade that my parents took me to. We would get there early and wait for Santa's appearance at the end.  It seemed like it took forever to see Santa but well worth the wait.

Here are the things to keep your eye out for in this year's Binghamton Holiday Parade:

Theme of the Parade:  "Holiday Magic Through The Eyes of a Child," is the theme of the parade.  This year a $50 Boscov's gift card will be awarded to the participant that portrays themselves closest to the theme.  Since the parade already has Santa, there can only be one Santa.

New Wheels -  The new HAWKMOBILE will make it's first appearance in the parade.  Look for the HAWK and a sparkly new HAWKMOBILE, the official road show vehicle of 98.1 The Hawk.

No Snow - While we may see a few flurries Saturday night, Howard Manges from WBNG Storm Tracker Weather says Saturday afternoon will be "filtered sunshine" with daytime highs in the mid 40's.  Bundle up!

Calendar Check - After parade day, there are 4 days til Thanksgiving and 34 more days til Christmas!
