For me and all Binghamton Senator Fans today is "Good News Wednesday. It's been announced that Ottawa and Binghamton have reached an agreement to keep the hockey team in Binghamton.

The Ottawa Senators will keep Binghamton as it's top affiliate for the next 5 seasons. The extension will keep Ottawa's developmental players with Binghamton through the 2018-19 season. Ottawa has been affiliated with Binghamton hockey since 2002.

Hockey has been in Binghamton for over 40 years going back to the Broome Dusters in the 70's. I'm glad it's sticking around. I remember my dad buying me a ticket for me and one of my best friends, Mark.

He got us front row seats right next to the players bench and there was a fight right in front us involving Randy MacGregor. I'm glad that they will be around as my kids grow up.

The regular season will be starting on Saturday, Hawktober 11th against the Worcester Sharks at the newly named Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. To see the entire schedule go here.

Binghamton, who has over 40 years of AHL Hockey dating back to the original Broome Dusters in the late 1970’s, has a strong community backing.
