Saturday was a perfect day for beer, hard cider, live music and some tasty foods as Binghamton Harvest Fest at NYSEG Stadium entertained close to 15 hundred craft beer lovers.

I spoke to people who came as far as Cortland and lots of students from Binghamton University and SUNY Broome who came to enjoy the 15-20 craft beers being offered and may not have been big hard cider lovers, but left big fans.  In fact, the hard cider tent, featuring a nice selection of hard cider sampling from all over New York State, was packed all day.

Josh Taft of Vestal didn't quite know what to expect tasting the pumpkin cider but ended up returning to sample more and more and "would definitely be buying some of these cider flavors" after he returns to campus.

The Troubadours were awesome, playing almost non-stop on this breezy Saturday afternoon, making a lot of new fans with their cover songs, adapting their sound to the hundred or so people surrounding the stage.

The popularity of craft beers has grown by leaps and bounds here in the Southern Tier according to distributor Susquehanna Beverages who sponsored the event.  With more and more restaurants and taverns carrying brews and hard ciders from all over the country, it's events like this that only add to the popularity, proving there is a flavor for almost everyone.

Thanks for coming out for the party today and cheers to the rest of your weekend.
