It promises to be an exciting year for the Binghamton Devils as they are getting ready for their second season as the Devils. It's hard to believe that the home opener is around two months away when the Calder Cup champion, Toronto Marlies come to the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, October, 6th.

I can't wait but here is some more exciting news, joining the team as their new head coach is Mark Dennehy. He had coached for 13 seasons at Merrimack College (Hockey East) and had accepted a position in Wheeling before being offered this job.

Dennehy's resume is impressive with 161 wins at Merrimack with the Warriors advancing to the Hockey East Final and NCAA Regionals in the 2010-11 season.  He won the Bob Kullen Coach of the Year Award as the conference’s top coach that year.

Dennehy will be leaving for Slovakia this week to coach Team USA’s Under-17 Select Team for the Five Nations Tournament and there will be an introductory press conference later this month.

It was a slight surprise when we learned about the head coaching vacancy last month and we haven't heard why there was a sudden opening but if they wanted us to know then they would have told us by now.

Before you know it, the ice will be put down and I'll be hosting Chuck-a-Puck to help giveaway another car. Go here to see the complete home and away schedule and LET'S GO DEVILS!!
