Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]Binghamton city councilmembers are planning to hold a special business meeting on October 13.

The session is to be held immediately after the City Council finance committee meeting, which is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

Lawmakers are expected to consider approving the sale of city-owned property on the southeast corner of Court and State streets.

Mayor Richard David was not pleased when the measure to authorize the sale was held over at last week's regular council meeting. He said it was an unnecessary delay of the process to move the project forward.

The site was cleared with the demolition of the O'Neill and Ross buildings several years ago.

Developer Mark Yonaty plans to buy the property for $75,000. Yonaty has said he intends to construct a five- to seven-story retail and residential building.

Also during the special meeting, council will consider transferring $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant money to cover street reconstruction projects scheduled to be completed this year.
