Following the April 30th fire that gutted the interior of 162 Water Street, the Ellis Brothers Furniture building on Water Street will soon be demolished.  According to WNBF News, city officials ordered the closure of Water Street, just north of Court Street because the Binghamton building is in "imminent danger of collapse."

Expect a section of Water Street between the city-owned parking ramp and Court Street to be closed for about a week or until the demolition is complete.

The Ellis Brothers Furniture store on the MetroCenter in downtown Binghamton remains open, as is Boscov's with parking ramp access, along with nearby businesses including Old World Deli, Water Street Brewing Company and Jake's Wine and Liquors.
