I sure hope Billy Currington knows how easily he got off by pleading no contest on Friday to a charge of abuse of an elderly tour boat captain.

I understand where Billy was coming from when he completely flipped out.  I'm not saying that flipping out was the right thing to do, but imagine being pushed to the edge until you can't take it anymore. That's what happened to Billy.  Billy wasn't crazy about a tour boat captain who constantly bothered him by driving by his lake front property and one day last April, Billy snapped and that landed him in hot water with terms like "elder abuse" and "terririst threats" being thrown around.

On Friday, Billy plead no contest to the charges and was sentenced to five years' probation and a $1000 fine. He's also been ordered to undergo anger-management counseling and can have no contact with the boat captain. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped a charge of making terrorist threats.

The boat captain and two passengers claim Billy not only verbally attacked him, but also hased them in their own boat and threatened the captain.
