We've all had one of those days or one of those weeks when you need to take a day for yourself to chill.  But you don't want to sit home, you would much rather disappear and do something fun or even by yourself. I call these days away good mental health days

Here are some ideas on how you can do a quick getaway and not break the bank doing it.

State ParkChenango Valley State Park is a natural beauty and a short drive from anywhere.  They have awesome trails for hiking, walking or chilling out while you can take in some fresh air and nature.

Ithaca Is Gorges ~  An hour away is some of the most amazing natural gorges in the world.  Ithaca is a great choice for a day trip.  Bring your camera and plan to stay for dinner in the Commons.

Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park ~  When was the last time you were at the zoo.  The Binghamton Zoo is the fifth oldest zoos in America and is a great visit alone or with a friend.  For the current list of hours and events, click HERE

Brew or Baseball ~ We are fortunate to have a couple of breweries close by.  Beer lovers will enjoy the Utica Brewery, home to popular Saranac Beer and other brews, in nearby Utica, New York.  Tours information is available by clicking HERE. Take a short drive to Cooperstown and catch the Baseball Hall of Fame and/or the world famous Brewery Ommegang. 

Whatever you decide to do to chill-ax, do yourself a favor and escape to do something fun.  The Southern Tier has lots of ideas close by to entertain and get away.
