So you think you can relax the next time you go pay over 10 bucks to see "Paddington," "American Sniper" or "Fifty Shades of Grey" at the movie theater?  Better hope it's just you and not a bunch of bed bugs sitting with you.

Bedbugs have been a problem at hotels and motels for some time now and now has moved to the darkness of movie houses across the country.  This has prompted a bedbug registry and bedbugreports.com, where everyday people can report bed bug sightings on line. Hey, I once canceled a hotel reservation that was on the bed bug web site.

Bedbugs are nothing new.  In fact, reports of bedbugs date back over 3,000 years.  Bedbugs are a human parasite that feed on warm places like human skin.  In turn the person bit can experience skin rashes or severe allergic reaction.

While there are reports of bedbugs at a few local hotels and motels, as of this writing, nothing has been reported at Binghamton area movie theaters, although I witnessed a small child licking her reclining seat at a local theater recently.  Of course, I immediately moved my seat, hoping the new seat was clean.

As Mom would always say, don't let the bedbugs bite.  Mom knew everything.
