The Binghamton Bearcats had a special connection with Ave Maria when the two teams met on the basketball court on Tuesday night.  Kimberly King was the Director of Athletics at Ave Maria and recently was promoted to Vice President of Student Affairs.  Kim served over 20 years in various capacities at Binghamton University.  She was the head coach for Cross Country, an assistant for Track and Field and also served as an Associate Director of Athletics at BU.  She took over the Director of Athletics position at Ave Maria in 2015.

Bearcat basketball fans remember Michael Wright.  Wright was a flashy guard who starred for Binghamton from 1998-2002.  Following a career in law enforcement he has returned to the basketball world as an assistant coach with the Gyrenes of Ave Maria. Michael still holds school records for most steals in a season with 96, most career steals with 242 and is sixth in career free throw percentage checking in at .732 percent.  His 300 career assists put him eighth on the all-time school list.
