Do you have a Citibank credit card? If so, you might have a little cash coming your way.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is requiring Citibank and its subsidiaries  to repay $700 million to customers all because of alleged deceptive business practices related to additional services offered to cardholders.

The CFPB says about seven million Citibank accounts were affected between 2003 and 2012.  Here are some of the ways Citibank is accused of being deceptive:

  • Telling customers they'd get a free 30-day trial but billing them anyway during that time.
  • Selling fraud-alert services that weren't anything other than notifications of changes in credit-bureau scores.
  • Using misleading or vague questions to get customers to sign up for add-on services.
  • Enrolling customers in programs they were ineligible for, and still charging them fees.

Affected customers will automatically receive a statement credit or check, and those who are no longer with Citibank, but who are eligible will be mailed a check.
