John Davison

I’m a local boy, born and raised and the second youngest of 4 kids. I love the outdoors, and much like Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown, if I could, I would spend the rest of my life on a beach with my toes in the sand. I enjoy being around positive people that dream big. Nature and animals are an important part of who I am, in fact, I have many rescue cats. In my spare time, I like to work out using non-traditional weight lifting techniques. Friends will call me a health nut. Country music is an essential part of my life as the Hawk has been very good to me since 1986. I’ve always said I have the most loyal listeners in the world. It’s thanks to my listening family that I received the Binghamton Broadcaster’s “Working Broadcaster of the Year” honor.

Why I Love Binghamton Restaurant Week

Binghamton Restaurant Week, April 1-10 is one incredible idea that was started a few years back.  It's a great way to sample restaurants you may not be familiar with or restaurants you may not have visited in a while.  Not only does it benefit your appetite but also local charities.  A portion of the proceeds benefit VINES as well as the Binghamton Boys and Girls Clubs.

Top 10 Treasures You May Find at the World’s Largest Yard Sale

There's a reason why people in the Southern Tier love yard sales and garage sales.  People love a good buy and shoppers look forward to the unknown.  It's also easy money and a good way to unload unwanted goods.  With the World's Largest Yard Sale coming to the Broome County Fairgrounds in Whitney Point on May 31st from 8-3, I know many listeners are looking forward to a big big shopping day.

Health Risk in Cash Register Receipts

Did you know that those cash register receipts you receive at the gas pump, ATM, grocery store or at the mall can cause infertility, obesity and heart disease?  It turns out that those innocent looking paper receipts you pick up at your favorite store can be full of a harmful chemical called bisphenol-A, better known as BPA.

‘Puttin’ fore Paws’ Golf Tournament for Project Paw

Paying the Winter heating bills this season has been been a great challenge for many of us including local animal shelters like Project Paw.  What makes it even more tough for shelter is they don't receive funding from the county, city or state, like some other local shelters do. They rely strictly on individual donations.  And the number of cats housed at Project Paw is at an all-time high.

You Could Flyaway to see George Strait in Dallas with the HAWK

I remember driving long distances to see George Strait in concert.  George typically does not set many dates for the Northeast, so fans would often have to drive or fly to see his shows.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  It's definitely worth every mile to see George do 'The Chair', 'Marina Del Ray' (or insert your fav here) in person.

March is Coming to an End with HAWK Rewards

It seems like March just started and tomorrow we say goodbye to another month.  March has brought us some good 2014 memories like the St. Patty's Day Parade in Downtown Binghamton, some good hockey with the Binghamton Sens, Darius, Eli Young Band and Joel Crouse at the Arena, the announcement of  Zac Brown Band at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open-August 15th, some good college hoop action and the end of Winter.
