I've always said that art will be one of the things that brings Binghamton back to greatness.  You see it with the popularity of downtown Binghamton's 'First Friday' Art Walks on Artists Row, which brings art browsers by the thousands to art galleries like the Co-Op and Orazio Salati art galleries on State Street in Binghamton.

Something exciting is happening soon on the Binghamton art scene with the Art of Binghamton event presented by one of the First Friday pioneers, Matthew Card and a number of Binghamton area sponsors and businesses.

The opening for Art of Binghamton will be at Roberson Museum and Science Center’s Sawtelle Gallery on Friday, August 12th from 5- 9pm.  Art of Binghamton is a premiere gallery experience of art created by 17 local artists. Admission to this grand event is free.  These artists have displayed and sold their work locally and nationally. Many are art educators and were born and raised here.

It is evident that they reflect their pride and love for their hometown in their artwork. Each piece is a unique representation of Binghamton - past, present or future. The most impressive aspect of this show is that it is an eclectic group of media from classic to advanced digital that will offer an eye opening viewpoint behind the appealing interest and history Binghamton has to the beholder.

The show runs through September at Roberson Museum and Science Center and it will be at The Bundy Museum of History & Art in October with a First Friday opening on October 7th.
