We are just a couple of weeks from the beginning of the season for the Binghamton Senators. There has been a lot of excitement for the upcoming season. With a new head coach and season ticket sales at the highest since the B-Sens won the Calder Cup in 2011.

It's now official. The Senators are leaving Binghamton and will go to Belleville.  B-Sens Executive Vice President of Operations, Tom Mitchell will have a press conference today (9/26) at noon to address the future of Binghamton hockey.

This will be the last season for the Senators in Binghamton.

In July, the question was asked if the Senators were staying or leaving. Tom Mitchell responded by saying that the organization wasn't going anywhere and that a strategy was in place.

The key to the statement is that "the organization" isn't going anywhere. He didn't say that the Sens were staying.  Supposedly the Senators are working on a way to bring another AHL affiliate to Binghamton.

The reason for the move is that Belleville is only three hours from Ottawa and you don't have to cross the border. It has nothing to do with Binghamton.

Also according to the Ottawa Citizen, they were close to an agreement last month but negations fell through

Let's make the final year of the B-Sens the best we can and we'll worry about next year when this season is done.

I'm looking forward to doing Chuck-a-Puck again this year and hope to see you at Floyd L. Maines Veteran Memorial Arena soon. The Sens will play a preseason game at home against Rochester on Saturday, October 8th.

The regular season will start Saturday, October 15th against the Hershey Bears.

LET'S GO SEN'S! For one more year.
