When was the last time you hit the Apalachin Fireman's Field Days?  The famous field days that benefits the Apalachin Fire Department, runs today thru Saturday night at Apalachin Field.  This event began in 1959 and it's truly a Southern Tier tradition.

Growing up in Binghamton, I'll never forget begging my father to take me to this June festival and also the Johnson City Field Days which comes later in the Summer.  As a kid, I knew Johson City Field was a few blocks from my house but isn't it funny how Apalachin seemed like a day trip.  But we all know how close by the fun really is.

As a teen and in to my 20's, it was always a great time with my friends with always epic food and in my opinion, the best clams in the world.  Nothing like clams with a cold one or two outside!  If you go, be prepared for a chicken bar-b-q every night, perfect to go with the games and midway rides.

The days feature crafts, children's entertainment, lots of music.  And yes, there is  handicapped access.

Here are some highlights for this year's Apalachin Fireman's Field Days:

  • Thursday, June 4th — Featuring a Chicken Bar-B-Que and Rides Galore
  • Friday, June 5th at 10 pm sharp — A spectacular Fireworks show
  • Saturday, June 6th— Little Miss Apalachin starts at Noon (ages 8-9)
    • Residents of Apalachin Fire District only
    • $200  to the winner $100 to the 1st runner-up
  • Also on Saturday, our traditional parade starts at 6pm
