Meet Grace Wilkinson. Grace is a 12-year-old girl from Apalachin and she's gearing up for her 95th brain surgery. Take a second to process this - Grace is 12-years-old and has had 94 brain surgeries. 94. Let that sink in.

When you or I get a blinding headache, we can take some pain pills, grab a nap, and we'll feel better in a couple of hours. Not Grace. Grace lives with Hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is a condition in which too much fluid builds up on the brain and puts very harmful pressure on the brain.

According to the United States National Library of Medicine, Hydrocephalus can permanently damage the brain, causing problems with physical and mental development and if it isn't treated, it can be fatal.

Can you imagine how terrifying it must be for Grace each time she has to go for surgery? Can you imagine how her mom, Michelle must feel?

Last night I held a little girl who was sobbing asking me why this was happening to her. I had no answers for her. All  I could do was hold her, tell her that I do know God chose her...she was a treasure, a gift and her life mattered. I told her if I could trade with her and take all her pain in my body I would. I told her her miracle will happen. I silently cried next to her for a half hour until she stopped and her meds kicked in. God help me help her...God heal my child...God heal her body. Posted by Team Amazing Grace on Wednesday, August 12, 2015

And yet, in the face of such uncertainty and heartache, Grace and her family continue to stand strong in their faith.

Gracie is having a hard night tonight. Watching anyone suffer is something none ever wants to see. Watching someone you love and that person being your child suffer is agonizing. It will make you dig in to every aspect of your being that is not lined up with the word of God. It will have you examine every part of your life to make sure you are living according to HIS plan and HIS word. Then only thing I know to do is PRAISE HIM. I said I praise Him and I know in the midst of Gracie's suffering and pain He meets her. He meets me. He has never once forsaken His righteousness. We stand, we fight. We trust knowing He is who He says He is. Period. Join me tonight and stand in the gap praying for Gracie for comfort and peace. Total healing we believe in nothing less. It is according to Her faith and that is what she believes. So believe with her. So be it Gracie. Posted by Team Amazing Grace on Sunday, December 13, 2015

Grace was born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighed in at  just 1lb 5oz. Grace had a cranial hemorrhage, grade 3 (grade 4 is the worst). Her birth mom had no idea that she was pregnant with Grace, so the fact that the hospital was prepping the birth mom for an appendicitis removal means that it is even more miraculous that Grace is here today.

Grace's mom says she will never stop searching and believing for a miracle for her daughter and that Grace "has a a heart that is truly a heart that is genuine and one for God. She loves everyone...she is funny, crazy, spunky and such a fighter."

Grace's 95th brain surgery is scheduled for the end of December and Grace could use some cheer and a reminder that our community stands strong behind her. When you're writing out your Christmas cards, please consider taking a minute to write out an extra one. For Gracie.
