Where can you get within spitting distance of a dromedary camel, a hop, skip and a jump from a red kangaroo and a tail-feather-shake from a peacock? How about Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, NY – just 15 minutes outside of Binghamton!

Located on a 20 acre farm, Animal Adventure Park prides itself on its wide array of exotic animals and growing educational program, hoping to bring a little bit of the wild and unexpected to the people of Upstate New York.

And whether or not you’ve ever taken a trip to the park, you’re going to want to make a visit sometime soon! Animal Adventures recently announced the acquisition of a giraffe known as Ollie that will be making his way to Broome County by spring 2015.

Ollie is only ten feet tall now, but is expected to grow as tall as eighteen feet and will be the first giraffe to come to the Binghamton area in 50 years.

Until the giraffe’s arrival the park will be constructing Ollie’s habitat and hosting events to benefit the park’s Giraffe Campaign.

If you’re looking for a unique date idea or maybe a place to take the kids for the night, Animal Adventures will be hosting Ollie’s Zoo-vie Nights where you can enjoy animal-themed movies under the setting sun and rising stars. The first of the series will be held tomorrow, Saturday July 26th, with Rio 2 and on August 8th, with We Bought a Zoo. Admission starts at $5.50 for children 11 and younger, and $7 for ages 12 and up.

For updates on Ollie’s arrival and more information about Zoo-vie Nights and other upcoming events, check out Animal Adventure Park’s website here. We can’t wait to catch a glimpse of this little guy!
