American Red Cross Looking for Southern Tier’s “Real Heroes”

The American Red Cross of the Southern Tier is now accepting nominations of residents who live in Broome, Chenango and Tioga counties who deserve to be recognized for being heroes.

The Real Heroes Breakfast honors residents in 12 award categories including: Adult Good Samaritan, Animal Rescue, Blood Donor, Educator, Fire Rescue, Good Neighbor, Industrial Safety, Law Enforcement, Medical Military, Youth Good Samaritan and 9-1-1 Dispatch.

"Whether it's a first responder who acted bravely in a life-threatening situation, or your next door neighbor who donates blood on a regular basis, you may know a real hero in our community,: said Shelley Bierwiler, Community Executive of the American Red Cross of the Southern Tier. "Please take a few minutes to fill out the nomination form so we can honor that person."

Nominations must be received by March 3rd. The Real Heroes Breakfast will be held at 7:30am on Thursday May 8th at the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton. If you know a deserving real hero, nominate them here.
