UPDATE: Authorities have cancelled the AMBER alert that had been issued for a newborn baby who was believed to have been abducted.

New York State Police Thursday night announced Gionna Harter, who reportedly had been taken from a Montour Falls home earlier in the day, "was located safely."

No additional information was immediately released.

Authorities in upstate New York have issued an AMBER alert for an infant.

The alert from the Schuyler County Sheriff's Office went out around 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to the information released by police, the alert was issued following a reported child abduction.

Investigators were trying to locate 17-day-old Gionna Harter. The girl was described as black with brown eyes and black hair. She weighs about nine pounds and is 18 inches tall.

The baby was reported missing from Montour Falls.

The alert indicated Gionna was last seen with 31-year-old Katrina Harter, who was said to be homeless. She was described as black with brown eyes and black hair. She is 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 332 pounds. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt.

People with information about the whereabouts of Harter or the infant may call 866.697.2623 or 911.
