It is great to be back on the Hawk airwaves again, the names and faces have changed and perhaps the biggest country star of the new Millennium is Jason Aldean, who just scored his 19th #1 hit.

I came from the days of Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Alan Jackson and Reba McEntire, but I cut my teeth on my dad’s country, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and the great Johnny Cash.

Today’s New country has its own identity, but it’s still has great artists with stories and incredible musicians.

I have been a fan of Blake Shelton since I met him here in Binghamton during his debut in 2001 and I spent the entire day with him before his performance at Country Pines Pavilion in Endicott.

I like Rascal Flatts, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, and this guy who has dominated country radio for over 10 years Jason Aldean.

This 40-year-old Georgia native just landed his nineteenth number one single with ‘Any Ol Barstool’

I wanted to find out more about this country giant and one of the first things I discovered, Jason is a George Straight fan, and how can you argue with that kind of taste?

Jason cut his teeth on songs like “The Cowboy Rides Away’ along with songs from Alabama, John Anderson and Hank Williams Jr.

Jason hit country radio with his 2005 debut album called ‘Hicktown’ and his single ‘Why’ was the first of nineteen numbers ones to date.

This guy really hit his stride in 2009 with “Wide Open’ which gave him his second #1 hit ‘She’s Country’

Last month Jason Aldean was named the ACM Entertainer of the Year and I don’t see this boy slowing down.

Signed

Big Fan
