I remember it like it was yesterday. I'd see the airplanes and run to the playground by my grandparent's house. There, I'd sit on the very top of the tallest metal slide, a slide beat down on by the sun all day and one that left my legs stinging, but I didn't care. I was enthralled. The airshow was in town and I wasn't going to miss a minute of it.

It's been almost a decade since I attended an airshow at the Binghamton airport and the details of all that I saw are a bit fuzzy, but I remember my 20-something-year-old self enjoying the eye candy that were the pilots and mercilessly begging for a picture with the ones I thought were the hottest. Those pictures are tucked away in a box someplace...

It's been five years since the last airshow at the Greater Binghamton Airport so I'm super excited to tell you that after such a long hiatus, the Greater Binghamton Air Show returns this year!

The 2014 Greater Binghamton Airshow will take place Friday July 4th and Saturday July 5th at the Greater Binghamton Airport. The show will feature the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team, an 11 ship aerobatic team known as Team AeroDynamix, Historical War Birds and several aerobatic performers.

In addition, this year's event will also bring back the “Night Airshow.”  The Night Show will begin during the evening on July 4th and continue into the night.  In celebration of the birthday of our Nation, some of the aircraft  have been modified to carry and launch fireworks and other pyrotechnic devices which will light up the sky.  But the fireworks won't end there, an "awe" inspiring fireworks display will close out the evening.

Saturday July 6th's airshow will be a traditional one which will be held during the daytime. And no need to worry about finding the perfect place for a good view because there will be lots of  room to set up lawn chairs and enjoy the show!

Unlike previous years,  this year those attending will pay one price and be allowed to enjoy both days at that singular price.  Adult tickets are $12 advanced purchase and $15 at the gate. Tickets for children 8 to 16 years of age are $7 advanced purchase and $10 at the gate and children 7 and under are free. Advance tickets can be bought here or at the Aviation Administration Office at the airport. Cash and credit card will be accepted at the gates the day(s) of the show. Parking will be $5 per day per car.

Gates will open July 4th for the night show at 6pm and the night show will end with fireworks at 10pm.  Gates will open on Saturday July 5th at 10:00am and the show will end at 4pm.
