Most people remember actor Edward Herrmann for playing the role of Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls. I remember him most from his role as the dad in the movie "Richie Rich."

71-year-old Herrmann had been suffering from brain cancer and had been in ICU at a New York hospital for more than three weeks, according to his family. They made the difficult decision to take him off his respirator on Wednesday, December 21st.

Herrmann won the Tony Award for Best Actor in 1976 for his work on Broadway's "Mrs. Warren's Profession." He also played President Franklin Roosevelt three times and had memorable turns in "The Lost Boys" and "St. Elsewhere."
