According to his publicist, actor Dennis Farina has died at the age of 69 following hospitalization for a blood clot in his lung.

Farina was born in Chicago and worked for 18 years in the burglary division before becoming an actor.

Farina's credits included roles in  movies such as 'Get Shorty,' 'Saving Private Ryan,' and 'Midnight Run.'  Farina also played Joe Fontana on the hit TV series, 'Law & Order.'

Farina's latest role was in HBO's short lived 'Luck' with Dustin Hoffman.

Farina is survived by three sons from his first marriage which dissolved in 1980. Farina's rep says the actor is also survived by "the love of his life of 35 years, Marianne Cahill." It doesn't appear the two were ever married.
