There's nothing that shatters my heart into tiny pieces and reduces me to tears more so than hearing about an extremely sick kid. Nothing. Children aren't supposed to face sickness hurdles-they're supposed to thrive and grow and be happy, but that isn't the case for many.

A Room to Heal is a local organization who's missing is to create a healing environment in the homes of children affected by serious medical conditions in Broome County and the surrounding area.

In most cases, volunteers provide 100% of the labor needed for each child's room makeover; however the furniture and supplies can be very expensive. Some rooms that require special equipment can cost up to $5000. Because of the extensive cost, A Room to Heal needs you and me, the community, to support them so that they can complete these special havens for sick kids.

A Room to Heal is sponsoring their third Annual 5K Run and Walk on Saturday May 31st at Otsiningo Park. This will be a fun and lighthearted walk where you're encouraged to show up and walk in your pajamas.

The walk/run will happen from 8am to 11am and will include fun family activities and refreshments as well as prizes for best pajamas, most funds raised and best teams. In addition, there will be awards for top 3 overall finishers male and female, top 3 masters finishers male and female and to 3 age bracket winners male and female.
