I recently had the opportunity to speak with one of the key editors of The 2015 Old Farmer's Almanac and found out a lot of weather related information I thought you might find interesting.

This periodical has been around since the 1700's, founded in 1792 by Robert B. Thomas and in addition to boasting impressive 80 percent-accurate weather forecasts, The Old Farmer's Almanac dishes out helpful gardening advice, health tips and tasty recipes, including an awesome fresh carrot ginger soup recipe on page 42 and the creamiest mac and cheese recipe-ever on page 34.

You won't be using your snow shovel quite as much but you may wish to check the insulation on your winter jacket and stock up on hats, gloves and scarves.  It sounds like it will be a very long Winter in the Southern Tier.  In fact, the big national picture from Mary Ann is this will be the year of extremes in arctic blasts, blizzards, droughts and hurricanes across the country.

My interview with The Old Farmer's Almanac focused on expected weather in the Greater Binghamton area.  Give it a listen and share this post with your fair weather friends...
