Coming off a very big movie season filled with great films, The Academy Award nominees have been announced today.

Leading the pack with 12 nominations is the Steven Spielberg historic drama 'Lincoln,' followed by the Osama bin Laden manhunt edge-of-your-seat drama 'Zero Dark Thirty,' musical 'Les Miserables,' and my personal pick, 'Life of Pi,' each nabbing 11 nominations apiece.

With all the Hollywood 'hoopla,' there are some very deserving stars that have been nominated but have surprisingly have never held an Oscar.

Stars that have been nominated but never won include:  Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Glenn Close, Ed Harris, Tom Cruise.  Even when the talent pool was even stronger and more competitive, there were a surprising handful of under-appreciated stars:  Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr and legendary film director/creator, Alfred Hitchcock.

Good luck to all of this year's nominees.  'The Academy Awards' air on ABC-TV, Sunday February 24th at 8pm.
