Do you remember playing with model cars as a kid in the house or driveway? It brings back such great memories as a child as I pretended to drive them around while making the motor sounds. That's why I'm thrilled that this is going on this weekend!

It's "WATKINS GLEN RACING: A 70th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION, in miniature!" That's the theme for the fifth Annual Model Car Show at the International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC) this Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th.

Hundreds of cars will be on display from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. This two day event includes model cars, die cast cars and slot cars that will represent decades of work and recreate the machines with such detail and realism that you'll think you can hear the engines roar.

Also on display this weekend is Porsche race cars from the IMRRC's Ron Ratcliffe collection. Before he passed, Ratcliffe donated his personal collection of more than 200 completed model cars and 50 kits focusing on Porsche, his favorite marque.

This year, the Slot Car Club of the Twin Tiers will be back with a challenging and fast slot car track where you can test your skills. Admission is FREE for this event.
