Packing for a vacation holiday is usually something the most well-planned person loathes.  Most people have good intentions of packing way ahead of time, but most people (like me) put it off to the night before or even the day of leaving for your destination.

I've tried to pack ahead of time but wonder if I packed everything so I end of making a mess sifting through my packed bags.  But packing and packing well can make or break your vacation.

I've come up with a list of items you may not necessarily think of packing:

  • Small power bar -- How many times have you checked in somewhere and there were only a few outlets and even they were in the wrong places.  A power bar for your electric will save the frustration.
  • Duct tape -- Macgyver was right! Pack this and you will be a hero to those who didn't think of it.  Duct tape is a quick repair for a broken suitcase, will help close the gap in those hotel drapes to keep the light out and takes the fuzz off your clothes.
  • Safety pins -- resets electronics, saves your significant other when they split their backside because they didn't lose as much weight as they thought for those size 32 shorts and can fix the gap in those dreaded hotel curtains.
  • Cork screw and bottle opener -- This one is self-explanatory.
  • Bags -- zip lock and the grocery store carry out bags.  Store your pill containers and contact solutions and keeps the dirty clothes separate from the clean ones.

Here's to your next great getaway!
