In the final stretches of spring in Binghamton and the weekend sounds rather wet with WBNG Meteorologist predicting an 80% chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms Saturday, a 60% chance of rain mixing with snow flurries Sunday and there is frost in the forecast both nights.

This may be a good weekend to hit the mall or going to a concert.  There are a number of inside things going on the weekend.  Here are 5 things you should know about.

  • Oak Ridge Boys at the Binghamton Forum-  The newest members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, the legendary Oaks are bringing all their hits and new gospel and hymn songs off their new album as they play the Forum Theater in Binghamton Friday night (May 13) at 7pm.  Tickets are available up until show time.
  • Billy Currington returns to Binghamton, playing Magic City Music Hall Saturday night (May 14) and he's bringing ACM Best New Female Vocalist Kelsea Ballerini with him for what promises to be a great concert. Billy owns 9 number one hits of his own and Kelsea is hot right now with 'Dibs' hitting number one, her second #1 in a row.  The show starts at 8pm.
  • CHOW Food Drive goes postal-  Letter Carriers in the Greater Binghamton area will be collecting on-perishable food donations for CHOW this Saturday (May 14).  If you're interested in donating, please leave your donations in a bag by your mailbox for pickup.  You can also drop them off at the main Post Office on Henry Street in Binghamton up until 2:30pm on Saturday.
  • Fresh produce -- Last week was the first Saturday of the Binghamton Farmer's Market at Otsiningo Park.  Yes, it's officially back to browse and enjoy Saturdays from 9am-1pm.  Hopefully the rain will hold off long enough for you to shop the fresh eggs, baked goods, locally grown honey, syrup, soaps, tease and although the produce season is just stating, it's always fun to check out what is new and fresh.
  • The Pink Elk 5K Run/Walk is Sunday (May 15) 9am from the Vestal Elks Lodge at 2071 Vestal Parkway West in Vestal.  Proceeds will go to Traci’s Hope and Vestal Elks Club Veteran Committee.   For more details go to  tripcitiesrunnersclub.org
