Over a hundred million pounds of Roundup are applied on lawns, playgrounds, parks, golf courses and US farm lands every year.  While the full list of ingredients have not been disclosed to the public, according to Reuter's, the chief ingredient glyphosate could be been linked to a number of health issues including Parkinson's, infertility and breast and prostate cancers.

Studies continue but results are often blocked from the public and by the main stream media. Independent studies released by the Food and Water Watch group has released more information on the hidden dangers of using Round Up.

Examiner.com came up with a list of 58 reasons not to use Roundup around your children, pets and yourself.I have included 5 in this post:

1.  Groups of gulf war veterans and sheep farmers have reported major health problems they believe stem from heavy exposure to organophosphates (the active toxins in Roundup).

2.  Studies have shown that, at low levels that are currently legal on our food, it could cause DNA damage, endocrine disruption and cell death.  Eat organic whenever possible, especially with strawberries, apples, peaches and grapes.

3.  It destroys the vegetation that birds, beneficial insects, birds and mammals depend on for food and shelter.  This could explain the shortage in our bee and butterfly population.

4.  It leads to herbicide resistant "superweeds."

5.  Farmers report soil damage for years following the administration of Roundup, leading to diseased and diminished crops.

Last year, I published a natural weedkiller recipe that seemed to work for some people.  I also use corn gluten products available here at Agway and other local retailers and on line. A little research and you might save your health or the health of someone you love.
