This is my 7th Mother's Day without my mom. I really do miss going out with her for that Mother's Day brunch and seeing her face light up with the perfect Mother's Day card. This would have been the weekend we would go shopping for annuals and perennials for her garden. Seeing the weather this weekend, I could almost hear her say "we can't plant this weekend but we can plan the garden because the week ahead sounds pretty good for gardening." She was so smart with her garden and loved her flowers and veggies.

So, with this being Mother's Day, I thought I would share a few things that still stay with me so many years later and will most likely stay with me my entire life:

  1. Treat others the way you want to be treated and always with respect.
  2. Work hard and be thankful you can work but save time to enjoy your life too.
  3. It takes more muscles to frown so always try to smile.
  4. Respect the earth and enjoy playing and planting in the dirt because it's good for you
  5. Travel.

Thanks, Mom. These are lessons for all.
