The 10th Annual Binghamton Outdoor and Camping Show begins its' 3 day show Friday, March 18th at the Binghamton University Events Center.  Every year, hundreds of people check out this show to see the best of the best in 5th wheel campers, boats, travel trailers, toy haulers, pop ups and area campgrounds.

It seems as though camping has gained an insurgence of popularity in the Greater Binghamton area.  It could be attributed to low gas prices or people just wanting to spend more time outdoors.  And we all remember how great the weather was last summer and fall in Binghamton, so that could also have a lot to do with it.

If you are going camping, here are 5 essentials you should not forget:

  1. An air mattress - Especially if you are "tenting it," don't forget the air mattress. Even if you are well-equipped with the travel trailer or 5th wheel, it's always a good idea to have one of these ready in case you have a guest.
  2. Folding chairs - Again, if you meet someone or if you get unexpected company, the more folding chairs you have the better.  Plastic chairs take up too much room.
  3. A camping stove -- especially if you don't feel like always building a fire.
  4. Basic tools -- It will save you time going back in to town, make a list before you leave of things like:  spoons of every size, knives, forks, a measuring cup, a cork screw and a can opener.
  5. Paper -- Extra toilet paper and paper towels for obvious reasons.
