5 Best Mother’s Day Movies
When it comes to movies for Mother's Day, Julia Roberts rules! 'Mother's Day' is a new movie playing this Mother's Day weekend in the Binghamton area and stars Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and you guessed it, Julia Roberts. While this movie is receiving mixed reviews, I really don't know how it could be that bad with a cast that features these three beauties.
But if you want to play it safe, you can always stream your favorite, make a giant bowl of popcorn and watch one of these proven favorites that have stood the test of time.
Here are 5 favorites that Mom should love to watch with you this weekend:
- Steel Magnolias -- This staple from 1989 stars Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine and yes, Julia Roberts. It's great fun to watch this all-star cast in this classic Mother's Day movie. Olympia Dukakis is outstanding!
- Mrs. Doubtfire -- Sally Field may not be the perfect Mom in this comedy classic but Robin Williams sure makes her think about it. It's really too bad Robin never got to make a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire, but we are so lucky to have him at his best in this cheerful Mother's Day favorite.
- Terms of Endearment -- Shirley McClain and Debra Winger star in this Oscar-winning mother-daughter classic.
- Step Mom -- This Julia Roberts favorite also stars Susan Sarandon and Ed Harris. Excellent writing, cast and acting make this a Mom favorite.
- Dumbo -- There are very few Disney favorites where the Mom survives and thrives. 'Dumbo' is that movie and it's so short in length, you can almost do this as a double feature. If you haven't seen it in a while, Mother's Day would be a good day to see just how wonderful it is. A true animated classic with a powerful message.
