Back in the day you could do things that seemed normal and accepted that will probably get you arrested today. Your parents especially, since things have changed drastically since you were little. Here's 4 big ones:

#1. Leaving you home alone.  A lot of states have laws now that say you can't leave a child unsupervised if they're under 12.  In some states it's younger than that, and in Illinois it's 14.  (Check your state here.)

#2. Smoking with a child in the car. My parents didn't smoke, my dad did when I was in my late teens, but it was cigars then menthol cigarettes. A handful of states are working on making it illegal to smoke with a kid in the car. Some already have like Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Maine, Oregon, and Utah.

#3. Wearing a seatbelt. You have to in all 50 states. I can still remember my Dad flinging the belt off in the car as soon as he reached the PA border. He'd say "Ready?" We'd go over the border and he'd un-snap and fling the belt off and say "AH! That's better, I hate that #$%&ing thing." New Hampshire is the only state that allows Adults to not wear the seatbelt, but they strongly suggest you do.

#4. Taking photos of your kids in the bathtub.  It's legal to take photos of your kids in their birthday suit. Keep in mind however in 2008, a couple in Arizona took a roll of film to Walmart to get it developed and the person working the photo center thought some of the bath photos were child pornography. All the charges were eventually dropped.  But both parents had to register as sex offenders until the charges were dropped. The mom got suspended from her job at a school, and their kids ended up in a foster home for a month.
