Hunger is a big problem all over the world and while many may not realize how it affects people you may not even be aware of such as people you may work with or children your kids go to school with.  It's a big problem in the Southern Tier in just about every city and town.

That's why United Health Care is donating $55,000 to the Cornell University 4-H Youth Development Program, which administers 4-H programs throughout the state, to support the “4-H Food Smart Families” program.  According to the UHC news release, "4-H Food Smart Families provides hands-on learning, sustainable skills and practical resources that can help families tackle hunger beyond one meal."

4H is a good thing for the Binghamton community as they educate area families with needed nutritional information and how they can wise shopping and meal choices.

The partnership will be announced Wednesday (July 13) at the Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School, 9 Ogden Street in Binghamton from 1-3pm. This is where students will learn more about the program, and even how to prepare food to enhance their health and well-being.

If you're on a limited budget and want to learn how to get more for your money and cook the food in the healthiest way possible, this is one meeting you should try to make.  It promises to be informative and entertaining for kids and families of all ages.
