It's a basketball tournament that honors the memory of a child and raises money for the underprivileged children in our community. It's the third annual Mase Madness basketball tournament.

Mason Pierre McKan was born on July 13th, 2011. He was only here for a little over 6 months (January 26th, 2012), but his life has inspired many. Read Mase's story here.

The tournament begins this afternoon at 5pm and runs through 5:45pm on Sunday night at the Johnson City Middle School Gyms. See the complete schedule here. Please join them in honoring Mason’s memory, and supporting the youth in our community.

The tournament raises money for the Mason P. McKan Benevolence Fund. This scholarship fund will be used to help send deserving, yet underprivileged children in our community to the local BX Strength and Training training center throughout their high school career.

This is a highly acclaimed training facility, one that the McKan family hoped one day their son Mason would attend. Now it's their hope that, because of Mason, other children in this community will have the opportunity to attend.

I'll be helping as a referee at the tournament Saturday morning beginning at 8am and again on Sunday at 2:45pm. I'd love to see you at the tournament this weekend.

Traci and I had a chance to meet Mason's parents and his brother and sister earlier this week.  They seem like a wonderful family. The kids were so well behaved and real cutie pies.

If you'd like to support the fund or want to find out more about the tournament, go here. I'll see you this weekend!
