Frozen foods are something I think we seriously take for granted.  I mean it's easy to grab a bag of frozen veggies from the freezer, plop a pint of your favorite Ben & Jerry's in that magical drawer in your kitchen for a later meeting or fill that glass with ice to make your libation of choice even more appealing.

Today is National Frozen Food Day.  A holiday that I had no idea has been celebrated since 1984.  If it hadn't been for Clarence Frank Birdseye II, there may not be frozen meats, veggies, fruits and other foods.  According to Eater.com, Mr. Birdseye has the credit of inventing frozen foods as we know it today.

We've come a long way since the 1930's when only 8 percent of American households had refrigeration in their homes.

There are a couple of ways to celebrate National Frozen Food Day today in Binghamton:

1)   Reminisce -  You could fondly remember your favorite frozen foods.  What I wouldn't give to have a half gallon of Pat Mitchell's Orange Pineapple, Banana or Grape Nut ice cream in my freezer to come home to this week!  Wishful thinking!  How I miss Pat Mitchell!

2)  Stock Up -  There are a number of local restaurants doing special deals on their frozen food dinners, including Little Venice in Binghamton.

3)  Go Shop -  Take a trip to your local grocery store and find one of your favorites in the frozen food aisle.  Use #NationalFrozenFoodDay to post on social media.
