A woman who lost her parents in a plane crash 55 years ago was recently gifted with what can only be described as a true Christmas miracle.

Joyce Wharton's parents, Hugh and Hazel Armstrong, were flying from Portland to Seattle aboard a small plane in 1959 when it disappeared. 10 years later, the wreckage was found in a forest but all that was recovered were her father's wallet and some buttons.

Fast-forward to 1997. A man named Nick Buchanan was hiking in the area of the plane crash and discovered a ring in the roots of a cedar tree. Knowing that a plane once crashed in that area, he assumed it belonged to one of the passengers and devoted his time to figuring out who. With the help of Ancestry.com, he eventually tracked down Joyce and told her he had the ring.

Joyce now has her ring and appropriately calls it her "Christmas miracle."
